**********Coffee in Taipei**********
The Lobby of Simple Kaffa
The Lobby of Simple Kaffa is home to former world Barista champion Berg Wu. The place is very hard to find, but so worth the effort. There is absolutely nothing that is mediocre to this place; the coffee, the desserts and the staff are all world class. Try their Hario V60 brewed coffee…their brewing method is different but will leave you breathless.

Rufous Coffee is a shop that is located near the Taipei University and is always crowded with studying students. Owner Yang roasts it’s own coffee and managed to create a 90+ blend according to review.com
The place is littered with memorabilia such as old coffee grinders, cups and bowl from all over the world and much more. It will keep you occupied while enjoying their amazing coffee.

PEG Coffee is a place that is a One Piece Anime museum. Aside from the anime packed interior, they serve amazing coffee as well. Try their Abaya Yirgacheffe for example. The owner doesn’t speak English but that is in no way a problem if you just want to enjoy your coffee and look at the thousands of one piece art pieces. I recommend just sitting there haha!

Coffee Sweet is probably my most favorite place. Owner Sid is a Syphon magician and the coffee menu they have is nothing short of a miracle. 90+, Geisha, Gesha village , Yigacheffes…you name it, they got it. It is often time so busy that you will have to wait for about 10 to 15 minutes before you are handed over your coffee…but it is well worth the wait! I recommend anything on the list brewed by the Syphon! Let Sid work it’s magic!

Seasons Flavor is not easy to find but once you do, it is worth your while. The reason it is not easy to find is because the place has no English name, just the Chinese one. You will not be able to google this shop. The owner is a former master tea roaster and focused on roasting coffee as well. The result is a coffee and tea shop with more than 25 single origin coffees from all over the world, as well as a place to sit down and enjoy one of the best oolong tea’s available on the market.

Cafe Est is owned by Ricky Liu, a young professional roaster that has made a name for himself by roasting great coffees. The shop is located in the south-east part of Taipei near a park with a beautiful stone garden. The baristas are great at their craft and the coffees on the menu are from all over the world. If you have a sweet tooth you must try their blueberry cake alongside a nice Ethiopia drip coffee.

E61 Coffee is one of the smallest but best coffee shops in Taipei. The small corridor like shop will only let you stand and wait for your coffee. The queue to get a coffee here is often long enough for people to wait outside on the pavement. Owner James has a very nice look on coffee: “Nature gave us coffee, and through me you are able to enjoy that gift. I am merely the tool, not the artist.”. I recommend for you to try the Macchiatto here, its simply amazing. Since it is very close to Cafe Est, I’d suggest you visit both at the same time.

Yaboo is a place where the trendy young people of Taipei often come to work and relax. The cafe is cozy and feels like a livingroom with the house cats sprawled out on the counter or begging for some attention. The drip menu will be your focus here because that is where the quality of the barista really comes to play. The menu changes every now and then so you will always have something new to try. Yaboo also roasts his own coffee and has a little gift stand for you buy some coffee of memorabilia.

Coffee Flair is shop that is located in a side street in the central-north part of the city. This shop is all about quality which you will notice when ordering a coffee. All of the coffees are of high quality and the barista will not hand out the coffee unless the deem it good enough. You will see the baristas taste your coffee and evaluate the result which ensures that you will get a perfect cup of coffee on your table. Flair Coffee roasts their own coffee but they are a little more expensive than other roasters in Taipei. However, the quality of the coffee does make it worth your while. Try on of their many Ethiopian coffees!

Lotty Cafe is a roaster that offers more than just Coffee. Their breakfast menu offers some very nice croissants and juices. The nice thing about Lotty is that the coffees presented go well with the food menu. The offer a variety of different coffees, ask the staff what they would recommend. The staff speaks english and the wifi is great. If nothing else, Lotty is a perfect spot to wake up and have some breakfast.
